  • Who are the Illuminati? What role do they play in Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness – EXPLAINED

The much awaited trailer of Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness was released today and it left the fans awestruck. The hundreds of easter eggs it had and the countless possibilities in opened up will take some time to fathom.

Apart from teasing the story arc and possible antagnoists of the movie, the trailer also teased the MCU debut of a number of famous Marvel Comics characters.

The scene that is perhaps the most talked about is the one in which MCU Strange’s hands are tied with some advanced tech handcuffs and he is accompanied by Iron Legions (Popularly calles ‘Ultron’s Drones’) into a huge chamber.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWzlQ2N6qqg&t=77s

It appears to be the hearing of Doctor Strange for his many acts that led to the Sacred Timeline being all messed up and ultimately opened the doors to Multiverse.

The court room-esque chanber in which Doctor Strange stands reminds fans of the PVA courtroom from Disney+ series Loki. However, the one which Strange stands in is definitely a higher version of the PVA and perhaps the one where the bigger Multiversal criminals are brought.

In the very next scene, an identity (whose face was not revealed) said “We should tell him the truth.” The voice itself was enough to confirm that it was none other than Patrick Stewart who plays the character of Professor X in Marvel’s X-Men movies !

This scene has led many fans to believe that it was indeed the chamber of Illuminati – Marvel’s secret group of heroes that is run by the 6 main superheroes from across the different sections of the Marvel Universe.

What is Illuminati and what role does it play in Multiverse of Madness

So what is the Iluminati? According to Marvel comics, Illuminati is a group think tank group run by Iron Man, Professor X, Doctor Strange, Mister Fantastic, Black Bolt and Namor. There wer 6 chairs shown in the chamber that Strange walked in. 6 chairs for the 6 members of Illuminati.

Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness has opened up many alternate realities and in one of them, the Illumniati exists. It is this organisation that has arrested Doctor Strange for his deeds that broke open the Multiverse.

Mordo is apparently working for the Illuminati as he was scene walking right across the chairs and in a particular scene from the teaser, he was also seen attacking Dr. Strange while he was still in his handcuffs.

The appearance of Illuminati will bring in two more Marvel franchises into the Marvel Cinematic Universe – the X-Men and Fantastic 4. It might even introduce the Inhumans and the character of Namor, who is reportedly the antagonist of Black Panther 2. Thus their appearance in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness will open be huge for MCU and its fans.

    Comic Origins of Illuminati

According to Marvel Comics, the Illuminati was proposed by Iron Man was the Kree – Skrull War. Tony Starc said that if any of the 6 individuals present in the meeting had any knowledge about the issue, it could be stopped. Thus he proposed the formation of Illuminati for the sole purpose of secret knowledge sharing. Each group member would represent a portion of Earth’s Super Human communities.

Mister Fantastic a.k.a Reed Richards of the Fantastic 4 agreed with Tony Stark and thus the group was established in Wakanda. There are many different stories about the Illuminati and the role they played and many of them say that the group is no longer in existence.

It will thus be interesting to see as to which version of Illuminati story is used in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness.

  • Peacemaker Director James Gunn reveals a strange fact about Vigilante’s Mask

The Guardians of Galaxy fame James Gunn, who has also directed the recently released HBO Max TV series Peacemaker, has always been very interactive with the fans on social media. As the director of these famous Superhero movies that have such a huge fanbase across the globe, he considers it as his moral obligation to clear the doubts of curious fans – of course until it involves sharing any spoilers.

Well, we recently caught him doing something exactly similar when a fan asked him a question about a character of Peacemaker.

A curious fan asked Gunn on Twitter whether Vigilante’s mask is prescribed as whenever he opens his mask, his alter ego Adrian Chase has to wear glasses. Gunn was quick to reply. He quote tweeted the tweet and replied, “Yes it’s prescription”.

The character of Adrian Chase a.k.a Vigilante is played by Freddie Stromma in the HBO Max show. He has been shown as the sidekick of the main lead Peacemaker, played by WWE star John Cena, alongside Eagly the eagle.

Director James Gunn opined in a recent interview that he sees Vigilante as the oddest character of the series. He is a worse Peacemaker but has his own advantages.

James Gunn said, “Vigilante is a very different sort of ‘hero’. I think that I created Vigilante for the show because I thought, if you really are a guy that puts on a costume and goes around and murders people — just cold-blooded murders people who you think are bad guys — who are you really? Who is this person really?”

He added, “And yet, despite all of this, there’s this sort of dare I say sweetness about him, that it comes from Freddie [Stroma]’s performance and comes from the fact that he is so — in such a vulnerable way, adores Peacemaker, and has obviously since he’s been a child and Peacemaker was friends with his older brother. So I just wanted to create a different type of character who was not black and white, was actually — he’s a worse version of Peacemaker in many ways, but also not without things that we can like about him.”

The teaser for Peacemaker S1’s season finale was released yesterday and it has the fans on their toes. The much-awaited season finale of the Suicide Squad spinoff will release on 17th February on HBO Max.

  • Wakanda Forever set photo teases the MCU debut of an age-old Marvel character

Wakanda Forever will be the third major movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2022. The much-awaited sequel of Black Panther (2018) started filming on June 29, 2021, but it was halted for quite some time due to the surge of COVID-19 cases. The filming process is almost halfway completed and fans are eagerly waiting for a first look. Meanwhile, a leaked picture from Wakanda Forever’s sets has fuelled major speculations about the movie’s plot.

Atlanta filming posted a leaked image from the movie’s sets. In it, we can see the camera crew shooting a scene in a large pool. Seeing the pictures, it is being rumoured that the Lost City of Atlantis and its King Namor a.k.a ‘The Submariner’ will play a big role in Wakanda Forever

The appearance of Namor in Black Panther 2 was anticipated being since 2021. It was rumoured that Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta (featured in Narcos and Spectre) was cast as Namor. Warlord Attuma and Namor’s cousin Namora can also appear in the movie.

    Who is Namor ‘The Submariner’?

According to Marvel Comics, Namor McKenzie was the son of Leonard McKenzie who travelled to the Antarctic in search of Vibranium. There he met Princess Fen, the princess of Atlantis, and impregnated her. After Princess Fen was pregnant with their child, Atlantean soldiers came to retrieve Fen and it was believed that they killed Fen.

Princess Fen thus gave birth to Namor in Atlantis and he came to be known as the Avenging son and was Marvel’s first Mutant. He grew up to become the King of Atlantis.

The two hidden kingdoms – Atlantis and Wakanda, were constantly at war with each other for Vibranium. It is thus being theorized that Namor a.k.a the Submariner can be portrayed as the antagonist in Wakanda Forever.

What we know about Wakanda Forever

After the untimely demise of Chadwick Boseman (MCU’s T’Challa), Marvel had to make some significant changes in Wakanda Forever’s plot. Although nothing is confirmed yet, there have been two major theories about the future of Black Panther in MCU. While some reports say that T’Challa’s sister Shuri, who was portrayed as one of the most brilliant minds in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (in Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War), will be given a major role in the upcoming movie, other reports suggest that M’Baku will be made the next Black Panther.

  • Deadpool creator confirms the appearance of two big stars in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness

The rumors for Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness have been insanely exciting in the last few weeks. From X-Men to Fantastic 4 and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man – many characters from across the Marvel Multiverse have been rumored to make an appearance in MCU’s upcoming Magnum Opus which is set to release on 6th May, 2022.

While most of these leaks and claims have no clear evidence, one of the biggest rumors about the movie might have just been confirmed by a Marvel Creator himself !

Yes you heard it right. Famous American Comic book creator Rob Liefeld who is popularly known for having created the much loved character Deadpool has just confirmed the rumors of a possible Tom Cruise and John Krasinski appearance in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness.

Rumor had it that the Mission Impossible star will make his Marvel debut in the upcoming movie as a superior version of Iron Man from an alternate dimension who is in control of much advanced tech. According to the reports, he is also the commander of Ultron bots in his universe and thus is extremely powerful.

Recent claims also suggested that the Office and Jack Ryan Actor John Krasinski will be appearing in the movie as Mr. Fantastic or Reed Richards.

Earlier there were rumors that John Krasinski’s real-life wife Emily Blunt (Who starred in Jungle Cruise) would be cast as Susan Storm a.k.a Invisible Woman, who is Reed Richards’ wife in the Fantastic 4 line up.

However, she straightaway brushed off those rumors on being asked back in May 2021. She said that those were nothing but fan castings. Emily Blunt said, “That is fan-casting. No one has received a phone call. That’s just people saying, ‘Wouldn’t that be great?’”.

While John Krasinki’s appearance was nothing but a theory, there were actual leaked images of Tom Cruise that confirmed his appearance in Multiverse of Madness. Just take a look at this –

After these rumors went viral overnight, Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld confirmed that much of it was true and there was no denying that.

Rob Liefeld said, “Here’s the deal you all know, I want to know — have either of you been caught trying to sneak into a screening of Doctor Strange 2? …They are testing the s**t out of this movie. The thing is, uh, they’re testing, it’s all getting out.”

The former Marvel creator revealed that many of these rumors are indeed true but he didn’t name any.

“We’re all hitting those hashtags and we’re like, ‘Oh c**p! They’re showing this. People are seeing this.’ I think it’s safe to say some of the stuff, you just said that’s out there, it’s happening. It’s in, it’s been seen,” he said.

So will you want these two actors making their MCU debuts in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness? Or did you like the previous casting of these characters better?

  • DC Releases the first look of Hawkman and Doctor Fate in latest Black Adam teaser

DC released a combined teaser video for their upcoming DCEU movies that are set to release in 2022 and 2023 and it contained some major details about the much anticipated Black Adam movie.

The Dwayne Johnson starring Shazam (2019) spinoff which is set to release on 29th July will be the origin story of one of the Strongest characters in the DC Universe, Black Adam. He has often been portrayed as an Anti-hero in the DC Comics but even for most parts (including the Shazam origin story itself), Black Adam has been shown as a negative character overall.

However, Black Adam will also mark the debut of a few other DC characters like Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Atom Smasher, Adrianna Tomaz and Quintessa Swindell. The teaser video gave us a first look of Hawkman and Doctor Fate. For the rest, DC has briefly teased their potential costumes by showing quick shots of their chest emblems at the DC Fandome. The fans are now eagerly waiting for a glimpse of the other characters.

The casting of the aforementioned characters in Black Adam, is as follows:-

    • Hawkman – Aldis Hodge
    • Doctor Fate – Pierce Brosnan
    • Atom Smasher – Noah Centineo
    • Adrianna Tomaz – Sarah Shahi
    • Cyclone – Quintessa Swindell
Doctor Fate’s first look in teaser

The teaser video named ‘The World Needs Heroes’ also revealed some scenes of the upcoming DCEU movies like The Flash, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and The Batman, but the Black Adam teasers were hyped up the most.

It has been previously confirmed that all the characters apart from the main lead Black Adam will be appearing in the movie as members of the Justice Society of America.

Pierce Brosnan (who will play Doctor Fate in the movie) has talked about the casting of the Black Adam in a recent interview. In it, he talked about the perfect casting of Dwayne Johnson and also the other actors. “He is magnificent as Black Adam. We are the Justice Society and there’s four of us, so we became a strong quartet of actors.”

Black Adam is the arch nemesis of Shazam. Moving forward, the big plan of DC would definitely be to bring the two characters together in an upcoming movie for a big scale battle between them.

Marvel has pretty much created a monopoly in Superhero movies. Black Adam could finally provide DC with the golden opportunity of breaking that chain and making a blockbuster DCEU hit in the days to come. But much of that responsibility rests on the shoulders of Black Adam and Dwayne Johnson.

  • Netflix set to Stop Streaming its MCU shows – Future of Daredevil, Punisher and Kingpin Revealed

Netflix has announced that its popular Marvel Cinematic Universe shows like Daredevil, Punisher, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and the Defenders will no longer be available on the streaming platform from March.

The relation between Netflix and Marvel had been complicated right from the beginning and things worsened in 2018 when Netflix had to cancel the 4th season of Daredevil due to a rift between the two companies.

The worst part is, it is not confirmed yet as to which platform will stream the series after March, leaving Marvel’s DefendersVerse fans in a fix.

The Daredevil is till date one of the highest rated MCU series and fans love it for many reasons. It is a shame that it will have to be taken down from Netflix so abruptly without a prior solution.

However, MCU has started including the DefendersVerse characters in their latest movies and TV shows. Vincent D’Onofrio who played Wilson Fisk a.k.a Kingpin in the Netflix shows recently appeared in the latest Disney+ MCU series Hawkeye. It thus looks like the characters have a future in MCU after all.

Charlie Cox also appeared in Spiderman: No Way Home as Matthew Murdock a.k.a Daredevil himself and it proves that Marvel is trying to bring its famous characters out of Netflix into the MCU.

Future of DefendersVerse characters (Daredevil, Punisher, Kingpin and More)

    Punisher and Daredevil

After Netflix stops streaming the MCU shows, there is a high chance that they will soon be available on Disney+ Hotstar. This will give all the freedom in the world to Marvel to use Daredevil, Kingpin and other characters in their upcoming shows in whichever way they wish.

A revival of the Daredevil series and the return of Charlie Cox in Daredevil’s solo series is also a possibility. Given the popularity of the series, there is no reason why Marvel would not want to bring it back.

However they might have bigger things in store for the Man without Fear. According to reports, both Daredevil and Wilson Fisk might star in the upcoming Disney+ Hotstar series ‘Echo’ which is the origin story of Maya Lopez’s alter ego.

Marvel has a detailed strategy prepared for their upcoming movies and TV series. And the DefendersVerse characters are surely in their plans as well.

  • Latest Theory reveals the real reason why Morbius was postponed – Andrew Garfield to Make Cameo?

Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man spinoff movie Morbius (2022) was initially scheduled to release on 28th January. However, just a few weeks before the scheduled release, the makers postponed it to 1st April. The official reason that Sony gave for this was the surge of COVID-19 cases due to the new Omicron variant. However, some fans believe the actual reason is something completely different.

MCU’s Spider-Man: No Way Home was a massive box-office success. In fact, it became one of the highest grossing Marvel movies ever, that too at a time when COVID-19 had taken a great hit at movie revenues.

The appearance of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spideys from their respective Universes was extremely emotional for Marvel fans.

Although all three actors were immensely praised by the masses for their performances, the movie was a breakthrough moment for Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man. His Amazing Spider-Man movies in the Sonyverse were the least favorite Spider-Man movies of all time and the failure of Amazing Spider-Man 2 in the box office led Sony to cancel the third movie of what was initially planned to be an Amazing Spider-Man trilogy.

He finally got his much deserved closure in No Way Home and #MakeTASM3 was the world wide no. 1 trend even days after the release.

Now, some fans have claimed that Sony might actually listen to the fans and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man might return in the suit in Morbius (2022)

Fan Theory: Venom, Morbius and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man might be in the same Universe !

Morbius will be the origin story of Dr. Michael Morbius, a nobel prize winning Biochemist who turned himself into a Living Vampire in an attempt to cure his rare blood disease – getting Superhuman abilities and a thirst for blood in the process.

Morbius, who is usually known as an antagonist of Spider-Man in Marvel Comics, will be the second anti-hero Spider-Man spinoff movie that Sony is releasing (the first was Venom).

The trailer of the movie showed graffiti of Spider-Man with the ‘Murderer’ painted over it on the walls of a lane that Michael Morbius was walking past. It immediately raised the question – “Are Morbius and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man in the same universe?”

The Trailer also showed an Oscorp building in the skyline of the city Morbius lives in. There was also a mention of “that thing in San Francisco,” which we think might be a reference to Venom.

Many fans thus think that Venom, Morbius and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man all exist in the same Universe. If this is in fact true, Sony might be secretly preparing for a possible Sinister Six lineup for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 starring Andrew Garfield as the web slinging superhero. This also explains why Sony possibly risked showing Michael Keaton as the Vulture in Morbius’ trailer.

But what does the word ‘Murdered’ written across Spider-Man’s graffiti imply? In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Andrew Garfield said that after the death of Gwen Stacy, he tried to go back to being the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man but he got frustrated and ‘stopped pulling his punches’ at some point.

This might mean that at some point, his Spider-Man could have killed an enemy or crossed the line in someway which divided the world in opinions about the Super hero. This was what the word ‘Murderer’ might mean.

Andrew Garfield to make Shocking Cameo in Morbius?

According to many, seeing the success of No Way Home and the hype about Andrew Garfield, Sony decided to add some more hint of the star’s presence in the same universe in the movie Morbius. Many think that Andrew Garfield might even be featured in the post credits scene of Morbius. All this, however, is just rumour as of now and nothing has been confirmed yet.

  • Matt Reeves’ Riddler has childhood Animosity with Bruce Wayne – Revealed

The prequel novel to Matt Reeves’ Batman (2022) was launched recently and it has made a number of astounding revelations.

Unlike any other Batman movie that the viewers have witnessed so far, Matt Reeves’ movie will portray the second year of Bruce Wayne being batman and skip the same old origin story.

It will portray a much complex character of the masked vigilante and actor Robert Pattinson has revealed beforehand that it is a ‘sad movie’ as his Batman is already broken by the crime of Gotham City. He is sort of addicted to doing what he does and he now enjoys inflicting pain upon the criminals and is himself a necessary evil of the city – Batman who doesn’t necessarily help !

Matt Reeves had announced beforehand that he wanted to stay aloof from DCEU’s extended universe and he didn’t want his version of the Batman to be destroyed by continuity.

However, that has not stopped the director from adding a bunch of iconic characters in the movie. The Batman (2022) features Cat Woman, the Riddler, Carmine Falone, Penguin and even the Joker according to rumors.

The tie-in novel that has been released, named “Before the Batman: An Original Movie Novel” takes a deep dive into Matt Reeves’ version of the Batman origin story. Interestingly, it also talks about the early life of the antagonists like Riddler and Penguin.

The Early Life of Riddler – Does he know the Batman?

The Riddler, played by Paul Dano in Batman, has been portrayed as a sadistic serial killer who has a political agenda and kills only the rich elite class of the society.

According to the Prequel, the Riddler was a orphan named Edward Nashton. He was Bruce Wayne’s schoolmate but was bullied in school. He was not as famous as Bruce Wayne in the school – in fact quite the opposite. He used to carry crosswords or puzzles with him and he was often called names like ‘Ed-weird’.

The orphanage that Riddler stayed in as a child was in the Wayne Manor. After Thomas Wayne shifted to the Wayne Tower with his family, he gave away the Wayne Manor to charity for them to continue the orphanage. However they left behind a family photo which kept on reminding Riddler of their charity’. He thus held a huge grudge for the Waynes. Riddler couldn’t stop thinking about Bruce Wayne as he was a ‘lucky rich kid’ in his words and had things that he could never attain.

Young Bruce Wayne from the Movie ‘Joker’

The trailer suggests that he knows Batman’s identity and it is thus very personal to him. He wants to torment Bruce Wayne before finishing him.

It is difficult to predict whether the movie will use even a tiny bit of the information that has been mentioned in the Prequel but given the 3 hr length of the movie, Riddler should get a decent screen-time to reveal his plans and motives.

  • Brie Larson claims Carol Denvers will be even stronger in The Marvels!

Captain Marvel (2019) introduced us with the namesake Superhero a.k.a Carol Denvers, a U.S fighter pilot who received unparalleled superpowers after an accident.

She was portrayed as one of the strongest characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and in the Avenger: Endgame, she almost incapatitated the Mad Titan Thanos in a fist fight. In fact Thanos had to use the power stone to stop her.

We can thus get an idea as to how powerful she is in the MCU. However, according to latest reports, the Warbird will get even more powerful in the Captain America sequel.

The much awaited sequel of Captain America will be released on 17th January, 2023. It will be called ‘The Marvels’ and will also feature Monica Rambeau – the daughter of Carol Denvers’ friend Maria Rambeau who attained Superhuman abilities in the Disney+ MCU series WandaVision

While Captain Marvel (2019) showed the insane powers of Carol Denvers, the Marvels will reportedly take things to the next level.

Brie Larson, who plays the role of Captain Marvel has started practicing rigorously for the role and she recently shared a training video for the upcoming movie.

What Brie Larson has said about her role in ‘The Marvels’

Talking about the advancements that we might see in Captain Marvel in the sequel, Brie Larson said, “In the first film, she’s developing that strength, and so I was developing my own personal strength with this one. She’s already got more mastery over her powers. She can fly now. And so having my body more limber, more ready for these types of movements, like wirework, which I didn’t have to do as much on the first one, was the main goal.”

As Brie Larson correctly mentioned, Captain Marvel was still discovering her full potential in the first movie and now she knows how powerful she really is (we all know that after Endgame). Although the timeline of The Marvels is not known yet, it can be estimated by Brie Larson’s words that it will be set up after the final battle with Thanos as Captain Marvel is much stronger now.

Brie Larson revealed that she is challenging herself physically in her training sessions to prepare for the role. She claimed to have mastered one arm pullups and one arm pushups within a month. If that is indeed true, both Carol Denvers and Brie Larson will be much stronger in the second movie.

“I just started to get kind of obsessed with it,” Brie Larson said. “When people say, ‘Oh, girls can’t do that,’ it just makes me wanna do it even more. So there were huge accomplishments this time and I just feel like my body’s just getting more and more used to this and more and more excited. Now, it feels weird to not train. I look forward to it.”

  • Marvel Studios receives Oscar nomination for Two movies in the same category

The year 2021 belonged to Marvel. The Marvel Cinematic Universe came up with some masterpiece movies and series (Disney+ MCU series) in 2021. MCU fans were introduced with the concept of Multiverse for the first time in 2021 through Marvel’s Disney+ series WandaVision and Loki. They added to that theory with their Magnum Opus film of the year, Spider-Man: No Way Home which became one of their most successful blockbusters ever.

Apart from these, MCU added a number of new characters in their roster with Shang Chi and The Legend of the ten Rings and Eternals. They also stuck to their small-scale projects with Hawkeye and Falcon and the Winter Soldier, both of which were again Disney+ series. Marvel thus expanded their cinematic universe ten folds in 2021.

No Way Home and Shang Chi get nominated for Oscars

They have now been rightfully awarded for their achievements as two of their movies – Shang Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings and Spider-Man: No Way Home have been nominated for oscars.

Both the movies have been nominated for the same category – Best Visual Effects. A major part of almost every Marvel movie is made with CGI effects. Spider-Man: Now Way Home was almost entirely CGI manipulated. The fight between Peter Parker and Dr. Strange in the mirror dimension was probably the best Visual effects in the movie. It was done completely with the help of CGI.

The mirror dimension scene from Spider-Man: No Way Home

Moreover, every Super-villain in the movie except William Defoe’s Green Goblin needed some sort of CGI manipulation – like Doc Ock’s mechanical arms and Electro’s glow. Not to mention, Sandman and Lizards were completely VFX made.

In Shang Chi, the final battle between Wenwu and Shang Chi which included the Ten Rings was undoubtedly the best scene of the movie. The visual effects and the details involved in that scene were just perfect. Moreover, the scene involving the Great Protector and the Dweller in Darkness was absolutely sensational as well.

The Epic Battle scene between Wenwu and Shang Chi

However, many Marvel fans are disappointed as Spider-Man: No Way Home was not nominated for the Best picture award. However, the competition in that category was immense and as we all know, SuperHero movies are often not prioritized in these categories. “Belfast,” “Coda,” “Don’t Look Up,” “Drive My Car,” “Dune,” “King Richard,” “Licorice Pizza,” “Nightmare Alley,” “The Power of the Dog,” and “West Side Story” were all nominated for the Best Picture.

Although the two marvel movies are top contenders to win the Oscar for Best Visual effects, they have tough competition there as well. ‘Dune’, ‘No Time To Die’ and ‘Free Guy’ have also been nominated. Sci Fi epic ‘Dune’ is a favorite to win the award.
