  • The Batman: Riddler’s Rataalada website gets an interesting update

It has now been over a month since the release of Matt Reeves’ Magnum Opus ‘The Batman’ and fans can not stop drooling over the masterpiece. It would be right to say that The Batman has suddenly heightened the excitement of DC fans for what next is to come in the DCEU and especially, in Matt Reeves’ Bat-verse.

The Batman was kind of open-ended with Gotham City left flooded with water and although there was a feeling of hope both in Batman and the people of the city, the next big threat to the city was in the making as a big Vacancy was left at the top of the Power pyramid of Gotham City with the death of Carmine Falcone.

However, fans will argue that an even bigger threat to the city and Batman himself are the two Supervillains who are currently locked up in the Arkham Asylum in adjacent cabins. The last scene of The Batman showed that The Joker and Riddler were communicating through the walls of the Asylum and Mr J was motivating his new friend by suggesting a possible team up in the future.

However, unlike Joker who is pretty much harmless while inside the Arkham Asylum, The Batman has proved that the Riddler is a big threat to the city even while remaining locked up as his anti-social fanbase who are equally fed up of the system are ready to wreak havoc and attack any place of the city on Riddler’s commands just like they did at the Gotham Square Garden.

Riddler managed a lot of these groups online and that was where they talked about supplies and other things. That is where Riddler’s site came into play. Remember Rataalada.com? Yes, it is the same site that was used by Riddler in the movie to give Batman the clue to get Carmine Falcone. The makers of The Batman also created a real-life website with the same domain and when fans went there, they had to answer some riddler that changed cumulatively. On answering three correct answers, they were rewarded with the link to Joker’s deleted scene from the movie.

    Rataalada.com Seized by GCPD

However, the site has now been taken down and the makers used the perfect plan for this as well. If you go to the site now, you will see that it has been ‘seized’ by Gotham Police Department after a ‘seizure warrant; that was issued by the Gotham City District Court.

This seems logical as Riddler’s site could be used by his fans for illegal activities and thus the GCPD would have actually seized it and all this makes the website look even more real life.

  • The Batman’s Deleted Joker scene gets released online – Full analysis

One of the most interesting scenes in Matt Reeves’ The Batman was undeniably the one in the end where the Riddler is upset because his plan has failed and he is comforted by the voice of a fellow Arkham Asylum inmate from the very next room. Although the face of the figure was not disclosed totally, the partly visible hair and smile were enough for the fans to get that it was Barry Keoghan playing the role of Joker. It was a tremendous teaser for what might be coming in the sequel of the movie and it kept fans on their toes.

Warner Bros has now released a Deleted scene from the movie where Batman goes to meet the Joker at the Arkham Asylum in order to take some help from him regarding the case as he wanted to understand the Riddler’s thinking process as was promised by director Matt Reeves. In this article, we shall be briefly analysing the scene.

Pattinson’s Batman and Barry’s Joker have faced each other before

Upon seeing that the caped crusader had come to see him, he said ‘it’s almost our anniversary’ with confirms that they have faced each other in Matt Reeves’ Batman universe before and it was Batman who put him behind the bars of Arkham Asylum. He has been here for over a year now.

    Joker’s appearance

Fans must have noticed after watching the deleted scene that the appearance of Barry Keoghan’s Joker is very different from Heath Ledger’s or Joaquin Phoenix’s. Joaquin’s Joker had no scars on his face and it was just painted. Heath Ledger’s Joker had a smile-shaped scar on his cheeks but the rest of his face and hair were painted. However, Barry’s Joker is different.

Every Scar and colour on his face is the result of some acid experiment which confirms that Matt Reeves has kept Joker as close to his comic-book origins as possible. In DC comics too, Mr J falls into a pit of acid and gets bleached completely. It turned him into a lunatic and bruised and scarred his face for life.

    Joker rightly guesses Riddler’s motive

Barry Keoghan’s Joker needed just a 5-minute long scene to prove his utter brilliance. When Batman came to him for help, the supervillain told him that Riddler was a “nobody who wants to be a somebody” and that it was very very personal. He also added that Riddler “thinks that these people [his victims] have all wronged him” and his grudge goes way back.

Joker plays Mind-games with the Batman

In the end, Joker does not give Batman exactly the detail that he had come here for and he himself mocks the caped crusaded. Being the king of mind games that he is, he told Batman that he was himself terrified of the situation as he started thinking that Riddler was actually right.

“I think deep down, you’re just terrified because you’re not sure he’s wrong. You think they deserved it. You think they deserved it!” he said and started laughing hysterically – the signature Mr J laughter.

  • The Batman director Matt Reeves confirms Arkham Asylum and Penguin Spinoff

The Batman director Matt Reeves had announced a long time ago that his upcoming Dark Knight movie will not be set in the DC Extended Universe but will rather aim at creating a universe of its own. After the great response that Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson’s Batman has received from the Audience post its release, DC has already decided to expand the Batman mythology with several HBO Max spinoff shows.

HBO Max spinoffs are apparently the new trend in the DCEU. James Gunn’s Peacemaker, which was a Suicide Squad spinoff series was an instant hit and thus DC has decided to expand Matt Reeves’ Batman universe on multiple streaming platforms.

    Matt Reeves confirms Penguin Spinoff

    The Batman’s Penguin

HBO Max had already confirmed back in 2020 that they were planning to make a series around the Police department of Gotham City portraying the roots of corruption in the city. Reportedly a spinoff show featuring The Batman villain Penguin will also be made and it will show his rise to power in Gotham City.

The Batman director Matt Reeves has himself confirmed the rumours now. He praised Colin Farrell, the actor who played the role of Penguin in the movie and called him a ‘scene stealer’.

Talking about the Penguin spinoff, he said “We’re doing this Penguin series and one of the great things about that is Colin Farrell — he’s like you’ve never seen him. He’s so incredible and he’s a scene-stealer. Along the way, we thought maybe we could do (his character) as a series.”

“So I talked to HBO Max and showed them Colin in the movie and spoke to them about what this could be and they said, ‘Let’s do it.’”

An Arkham Asylum Spinoff show is being planned

    Arkham Asylum

Matt Reeves then gave the biggest teaser by saying that the second HBO Max spinoff will connect the Batman verse to Arkham Asylum. It is being rumoured that a separate third spinoff movie will be made on Arkham Asylum as well.

“So we’re doing that and we’re doing another series that connects to Arkham (Asylum). We are talking and thinking about the next movie, but to be honest with you, at the moment, I really want the audience to connect with this. And I really believe they will because I think Rob is an incredible Batman,” Matt Reeves said.

The Arkham Asylum is an important part of DC’s Batman comics and is popularly known to have been the place that gave rise to DC’s most crooked villain of all times, The Joker.

It has been confirmed that Matt Reeves will himself be the executive director of all of these Spinoff projects.
