  • The Marvels Trailer Review: A Cosmic Team-Up with Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel, and Monica Rambeau

The Marvels trailer is finally out, and fans of the MCU are in for a treat. This sequel to Captain Marvel features not only Brie Larson’s cosmically-gifted former pilot but also teams her up with Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel and Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau from WandaVision. In this article, we’ll take a deep dive into the trailer, from its exciting plot to its vibrant visuals.

Ever since the final episode of Ms. Marvel, fans have been wondering what happened to teenage fangirl hero Kamala Khan, and why Carol Danvers (aka Captain Marvel, aka Kamala’s favorite superhero) suddenly appeared in the kid’s bedroom. The Marvels trailer confirms that Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel did switch places, meaning Carol Danvers has touched down in suburban New Jersey, and Kamala is blasted off into deep-space to pal it up with fluffy Flerken, Goose.

Monica Rambeau also goes from a space mission with Nick Fury back down to Earth. The jumping looks like a fun conceit for this long-awaited team-up, since Marvel often plugs other genres into its superhero milieu, is this its closest thing to a body-swap movie?

The trailer offers hints of what Samuel L Jackson’s former SHIELD leader is getting up to out in space, sure to be explored more in the summer Disney+ series Secret Invasion, and suggestions of why Carol, Kamala, and Monica’s powers are all connected. It’s a reminder that Iman Vellani might be the MCU’s new secret weapon – a piece of casting so perfect that it deserves big-screen status after the joys of Ms. Marvel on streaming.

    The Marvels Trailer Visuals

The Marvels trailer promises a blast of color, energy, and laughs. We see Carol in a colorful jellyfish outfit, what looks to be a kitten army, and Zawe Ashton’s villain. We wonder if that’s Ronan the Accuser’s hammer she’s holding, and are those blue Kree warriors with her?

    The Marvels Team-Up

The Marvels brings together three powerful female heroes: Kamala Khan, Carol Danvers, and Monica Rambeau. The team-up promises to be a fun ride with each hero’s powers interfering with each other and causing havoc on the galactic front. It’s difficult to choose a favorite part of the trailer, from Kamala’s fangirling to Carol’s aggravation, but the return of Goose the Flerkin is a highlight.

    Comparison with other MCU movies

The Marvels Trailer looks like a blast of color and energy, and it remains to be seen if it can get things back on track after the more muted reception and box office for Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania. Fans hope that The Marvels will have more positive, upbeat stuff in the mix, like She-Hulk’s clever and snarky fourth-wall breaking, Ms. Marvel’s fun origin story, and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special’s hilariously quirky Drax.

  • Who is the Glowing thing in Multiverse of Madness Trailer? Two theories explained

After Marvel released the much-anticipated trailer of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness two days ago, the fans were seemingly confused about a particular scene wherein a mysterious glowing figure attacked Wanda Maximoff.

The scene appears midway through the trailer and is supposedly set in the Illuminati Headquarters. The glowing thing initially appears to be Captain Marvel or Human torch but a better peek at the 60fps clip which was released today shows us clearly that it is not what we think it is.

Wanda’s fight with the Glowing thing

Well first things first, what the hell is Wanda even doing in the Illuminati headquarters, to begin with. Yes Doctor Strange was shown to be arrested by the Illuminati and they brought him to their secret headquarter but Wanda was not supposed to be there. And given her antagonistic character, which has been portrayed in the trailer of the movie, only a fool would believe that she was there to rescue Doctor Strange.

Well, the answer hides in her eyes in reality. Easter eggs have revealed a fascinating fact about Sami Raimi’s close up shot where he zooms into the eyes of a wounded Wanda Maximoff who is standing at the door of Illuminati headquarters.

The zoomed-in shot of her eyes shows two cages and according to rumours, the Illuminati has trapped her kids in those cages so that the Scarlet Witch can not come in contact with this alternate reality of hers.

This has infuriated Wanda Maximoff as she and her brother Pietro were treated the same way by Hydra and thus she has broken into the Illuminati HQ.

With all things considered, there are 2 theories as to who the Glowing thing can be and here we present them to you.

Theory 1 – Superior Iron Man

Seems like an eternity that rumours of Tom Cruise making his debut in the MCU as a Superior version of Tony Stark a.k.a Iron-Man started going viral. The makers of Iron-Man had originally considered casting the Mission Impossible star as Tony Stark instead of Robert Downey Jr in the first movie but decided otherwise later.

With the appearance of Iron Legions or Ultron Sentinels in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Trailer, it is almost sure that we going to take a look at that alternate reality of Tony Stark in the upcoming movie.

The Superior Iron-Man was reportedly able to successfully execute the Ultron Program and thus the Iron Legions initiative never failed.

A close-up look at the glowing thing that attacked Wanda in the Illuminati HQ shows an armour covering its face that is very close to the renders we have seen for Tom Cruise’s Iron-Man suit. The close-up shot also reveals a goatee shaped Moustache that Tony Stark is famous for.

Iron-Man was originally the founder of the secret Superhero organization Illuminati and the appearance of Superior Iron-Man thus makes sense. We would expect him to have access to the entire Illuminati HQ and it is obvious that he would attack Wanda if she tried to break into their facility.

Theory 2 – Monica or Maria Rambeau

The first character that comes to our mind after seeing the glowing figure is undoubtedly Captain Marvel as it goes binary like we have seen Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel do in her MCU appearances so far.

However, rumours and a close look at the shot reveal that the figure looks nothing like Brie Larson.

Many reports suggest that it is indeed Monica Rambeau or her Mother Maria Rambeau from an alternate reality where either of them received the Captain Marvel mantle.

However, it can also be Monica Rambeau from our Universe. She was split into many forms and received Supernatural powers when she crossed Wanda’s Westview pocket dimension a number of times. It would be really dope seeing her use her full powers and stand against Wanda in a fight.

  • Brie Larson claims Carol Denvers will be even stronger in The Marvels!

Captain Marvel (2019) introduced us with the namesake Superhero a.k.a Carol Denvers, a U.S fighter pilot who received unparalleled superpowers after an accident.

She was portrayed as one of the strongest characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and in the Avenger: Endgame, she almost incapatitated the Mad Titan Thanos in a fist fight. In fact Thanos had to use the power stone to stop her.

We can thus get an idea as to how powerful she is in the MCU. However, according to latest reports, the Warbird will get even more powerful in the Captain America sequel.

The much awaited sequel of Captain America will be released on 17th January, 2023. It will be called ‘The Marvels’ and will also feature Monica Rambeau – the daughter of Carol Denvers’ friend Maria Rambeau who attained Superhuman abilities in the Disney+ MCU series WandaVision

While Captain Marvel (2019) showed the insane powers of Carol Denvers, the Marvels will reportedly take things to the next level.

Brie Larson, who plays the role of Captain Marvel has started practicing rigorously for the role and she recently shared a training video for the upcoming movie.

What Brie Larson has said about her role in ‘The Marvels’

Talking about the advancements that we might see in Captain Marvel in the sequel, Brie Larson said, “In the first film, she’s developing that strength, and so I was developing my own personal strength with this one. She’s already got more mastery over her powers. She can fly now. And so having my body more limber, more ready for these types of movements, like wirework, which I didn’t have to do as much on the first one, was the main goal.”

As Brie Larson correctly mentioned, Captain Marvel was still discovering her full potential in the first movie and now she knows how powerful she really is (we all know that after Endgame). Although the timeline of The Marvels is not known yet, it can be estimated by Brie Larson’s words that it will be set up after the final battle with Thanos as Captain Marvel is much stronger now.

Brie Larson revealed that she is challenging herself physically in her training sessions to prepare for the role. She claimed to have mastered one arm pullups and one arm pushups within a month. If that is indeed true, both Carol Denvers and Brie Larson will be much stronger in the second movie.

“I just started to get kind of obsessed with it,” Brie Larson said. “When people say, ‘Oh, girls can’t do that,’ it just makes me wanna do it even more. So there were huge accomplishments this time and I just feel like my body’s just getting more and more used to this and more and more excited. Now, it feels weird to not train. I look forward to it.”
