Marvel has finally gained the full rights to its DefendersVerse character which were previously owned by Netflix and reportedly they have many things planned for these super-heroes. Series like Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, which were earlier available only on Netflix is now being streamed on Disney+.
Although the characters of Daredevil, Punisher and Kingpin who are fan favourites, are bound to make a cinematic return through the MCU with their respective characters, the fate of the other characters is unclear. Kingpin and Daredevil a.k.a Matt Murdock have already made their respective cameos in Hawkeye and No Way Home respectively.
Iron Fist set to return through Shang Chi 2?
However, according to rumours yet another DefendersVerse character is soon set to get his MCU to come back and that is Iron Fist who was played by Finn Jones in the sequel of Shang Chi and The legend of the Ten rings.
Shang Chi was different from the mainstream Marvel movies of late and the origin story of the Simu Liu played character won over many fans. It earned a whopping $432 Million at a time when most of the movies were going flop and the numbers were less due to the COVID-19 upsurge.
In the latest interview, Simu Liu has already said that he wants the Shang Chi franchise to expand and what better way to do so than introducing Iron Fist in the sequel.
“In what way does Shaun fit in with the rest of the MCU? Who are you going to see? What kind of crazy team-ups? What kinda tie-ins, Easter eggs? I’m just as much in the dark as everyone else, so I don’t know anything, but I’m excited to dive into that process,” Simu Liu said.
Both Shang Chi and Iron Fist have a lot in common. Both are extremely talented martial arts experts and have some sort of connection with a mysterious city. Even in the comics, these two characters are often brought together as a duo called The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu.
