  • Marvel releases a Deleted Daredevil scene from Spider-Man: No Way Home

The appearance of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock a.k.a Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home marked the official entry of the much-loved character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The rights to Daredevil were held by Netflix until 2020 and now that Marvel has got back its fan favourite character, they have planned to put him to the best use possible.

Matt Murdock appeared as the attorney of Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home after the entire world came to know about the real identity of Spider-Man. Although Charlie Cox appears on-screen for just one scene, he just kills it and wins over the audience instantly. His cameo was one of the most cheered for scenes in the movie and his ‘I am a very good lawyer’ quote after catching a rock thrown through the window gives fans a flashback about his true powers and his un-ignorable style.

In the scene, Murdock advised Happy Hogan to get a very good lawyer as he will be questioned about the missing Stark tech involved in the Mysterio murder case. Although we do not get a continuation to that in the movie as the focus moves on to Peter and his friends Ned and MJ’s inability to move into a college due to the controversy and then obviously the surprising appearance of Spider-Man villains from the past.

However, Marvel has now released a deleted scene from the movie which shows Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) sitting with Happy Hogan as his lawyer in a hearing which implies that the Daredevil actor had shot a number of other scenes for the movie which was then decided to be chopped off in the final edit.

Talking about the deleted scene, Charlie Cox revealed in an interview that He and Jon Favreau had actually added a Foggy Nelson (Matt Murdock’s assistant) easter egg in the deleted scene. The actor said, “I don’t think they used it, but we added a little Easter egg where he goes, ‘Yeah, I’m a little foggy on how that happened’ or something.”

What next for Daredevil in MCU?

Now that Marvel and Disney have received back the rights to Daredevil, it is being rumoured that the much loved Daredevil series might get a Disney+ reboot. Moreover, the protector of Hell’s Kitchen will also appear in several other upcoming Marvel movies and series. It has already been confirmed that Matt Murdock will appear in the Disney+ shows Echo and She-Hulk.

  • Daredevil Season 4 is really happening! New Leak gives away a major detail

The inclusion of Daredevil and the other Defenders verse characters to the catalogue of Disney+ Hotstar has opened up a wide range of possibilities for all of them, especially that of Matthew Murdock a.k.a the Daredevil.

The Daredevil is to date one of the most loved MCU series of all time and fans were deeply hurt when it had to be cancelled after the third season due to the worsening relations between Netflix and Marvel. However, Disney and Marvel had now got back full rights to the character and also the previous three seasons and they can include the character into the MCU in whichever way they like in the future.

We already saw a Matthew Murdock cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home and a Kingpin cameo in the Disney+ series ‘Hawkeye’ and it proves that MCU is ready to involve these characters in more and more projects.

Daredevil and Kingpin have already been rumoured to appear in the Disney+ MCU series ‘Echo’ which will be based on Maya Lopez’s namesake alter ego. However, recent interviews with the Daredevil actor Charlie Cox has revealed that many interesting Daredevil projects are in the line and one of them could perhaps even be the reboot of the Daredevil series.

In fact, rumour has it that Marvel has opened a limited liability production company with the name “Blind Faith Productions LLC” (Matt Murdock is a bling catholic) which is reportedly made for this very project and the shooting might start later this year.

“Yes end of this year or early next year with the original cast returning,” MyTimeToShineHello confirmed.

However, if Marvel indeed were to continue the Daredevil series under Disney, there are a few problems that they would have to face. First and most importantly, MCU’s current timeline is based in 2024 after Avengers: Endgame. Daredevil’s last season, i.e season 3 finished in 2018 which means there is a good 6 years gap between the timelines which will be needed to be explained in the reboot.

It is thus expected that Marvel will change a lot or rather just ignore a lot of the previous plot or just fill in the gap of 6 years with a vivid narration with Charlie Cox’s own voice.

  • Charlie Cox says he knows ‘Something’ about Daredevil’s future in the MCU

As we all know, Matt Murdock, a.k.a Daredevil has made his return to the MCU in style with Spider-Man: No Way Home. His cameo in the recently released Spider-Man movie was one of the most applauded and well-received in the entire movie. However, actor Charlie Cox, who plays the role of Daredevil, has revealed that this is not it for the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that there is much more to come.

Charlie Cox’s version of Daredevil shot to fame right after being released on Netflix back in 2015. Netflix and Marvel had a deal regarding some of their street-level characters like Daredevil, Punisher, Kingpin, Bullseye, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, etc.

Daredevil being cancelled by Netflix and His return to MCU

Thanks to that, the streaming company released various Marvel Extended Universe series in the next few years. The notable titles included Daredevil (3 seasons), Punisher (2 seasons), Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Iron Cage and the Defenders which was the series in which all these characters came together as a unit to fight injustice.

Daredevil was undoubtedly the most favourite series out of the lot. It is to date one of the highest-rated MCU series even after the introduction of MCU’s Disney+ series and there are some very clear reasons for it. The brilliant script, direction and narration of Daredevil and the way it Matt Murdock are some of the most humble and Superpowers-deserving heroes.

The show ran for three seasons before being cancelled in 2018 due to the complex relationship between Netflix and Marvel.

With that, there was a huge doubt regarding the future of Marvel’s fan-favourite Superhero in the MCU.

Thankfully, Marvel did not forget him and after about three years’ worth of wait, Charlie Cox finally returned as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Charlie Cox talks about the future of Daredevil in MCU

However, now that he has already been introduced in the MCU, Marvel seemingly has something big planned for the character – and Charlie Cox probably just admitted it in an interview.

Charlie Cox has always been very open regarding his appearance in the Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, in his most recent interview, he revealed probably a bit too much. The actor said that as per his knowledge, No Way Home will not be the only MCU project that he will be the only MCU project he was a part of lately and many more surprises are on the way.

He teased that he knew ‘something’ about the future of Daredevil.

“I know something. I don’t know much, but I know there will be something else,” Charlie Cox said.
