  • Ana de Armas Addresses Rumors of Taking Over Wonder Woman Role

Ana de Armas, the Cuban-born actress, has recently addressed the rumors circulating on the internet that she might replace Gal Gadot as the new Wonder Woman in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Fans were eagerly anticipating the upcoming third installment of the Wonder Woman franchise but were left disappointed when director Patty Jenkins decided to walk away from the project. With the fate of the franchise up in the air, rumors began to surface that Ana de Armas might take up the mantle of the iconic superheroine. In a recent interview, the actress broke her silence on the speculation and gave her thoughts on the matter.

Ana de Armas addresses Wonder Woman rumors

In the Wired Auto Complete Interview, Ana de Armas was asked if she was set to take over the role of Wonder Woman in the upcoming DCEU movies, following speculation that Patty Jenkins’ departure from the franchise had led to the search for a new lead. De Armas quickly put the rumors to rest, expressing her support for Gal Gadot to continue portraying the iconic superheroine. “Well, I feel like Gal Gadot is doing a great job, so, you know, I think she should keep doing that,” Ana de Armas said.

De Armas’ response comes as a relief to Wonder Woman fans who were curious about the fate of the character following Jenkins’ exit from the franchise. Despite rumors suggesting that Ana de Armas could be in the running for the role, it appears that Gadot will continue to don the mantle of the beloved Amazonian warrior. As the DCEU undergoes changes under the supervision of James Gunn and Peter Safran, it remains to be seen how the franchise will evolve, but for now, Gadot is set to lead the charge as Wonder Woman.

Patty Jenkins clarifies departure from ‘Wonder Woman 3’

After the rumors about Ana de Armas replacing Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman surfaced, fans were left with a question mark about the future of the franchise. However, the plot thickened when it was reported that Patty Jenkins, who directed the first two films, had left the third movie. In a lengthy statement posted on Twitter, Jenkins set the record straight, stating that she had not walked away from the project.

Jenkins clarified that she had left another project, “Rogue Squadron,” to focus on “Wonder Woman 3.” She explained that when it became clear that “Rogue Squadron” wouldn’t happen soon enough, she stepped away, but Lucasfilm had asked her to consider coming back after “Wonder Woman 3.” She said that she was still on the project and that it had been in active development ever since, but she didn’t know if it would happen or not. Jenkins ended her statement by stating that she did not want what had been a beautiful journey with “Wonder Woman” to end on a negative note and wished the franchise an amazing future ahead.

Jenkins’ statement should come as a relief to fans who were worried that she had left the project due to creative differences or other issues. However, it also underscores the challenges that the franchise is facing as it moves forward. With Jenkins’ departure and the rumored departure of Gal Gadot, there are many questions about the future of the “Wonder Woman” franchise. Nevertheless, with James Gunn and Peter Safran tasked with reshaping the DC landscape, fans can hope that exciting new development are on the horizon.

Gal Gadot’s future as Wonder Woman

As for Gal Gadot, the current Wonder Woman, her future in the role remains uncertain. Despite de Armas expressing her support for Gadot to keep the mantle, rumors have circulated that the actress may be replaced in the upcoming DCEU films. However, nothing has been confirmed by the studio or Gadot herself.

Gadot last portrayed the Amazon princess in 2020’s “Wonder Woman 1984”, which was directed by Patty Jenkins. Fans have been eagerly waiting for the announcement of the third installment in the Wonder Woman franchise, but with Jenkins’ departure and the ongoing changes in the DC landscape, it remains to be seen what direction the studio will take with the beloved character.

As for Patty Jenkins, she has put to rest any rumors of bad blood between her and the studio, emphasizing her love and honor for the character of Wonder Woman. While it’s unclear if and when “Wonder Woman 3” will come to fruition, fans can look forward to the upcoming projects of both Jenkins and Gal Gadot. For now, it seems that the future of the beloved Amazonian warrior is in good hands.

  • James Gunn Talks Possible Marvel-DC Crossover Movie

James Gunn, the filmmaker who has had success with both Marvel and DC comic book movie adaptations, recently discussed the possibility of a Marvel-DC crossover movie in an interview with Empire Magazine. While discussions have been “very, very light and fun,” Gunn admitted that he has thought about the idea.

Gunn’s career in the comic book movie industry began with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) franchise, where he directed two installments of the Guardians of the Galaxy series. However, he was temporarily fired by Disney in 2018 due to past controversial tweets before being rehired in 2019 to direct the third Guardians of the Galaxy film. In the interim, he found a new home at DC and Warner Bros., where he directed The Suicide Squad and will be taking over as the architect of the DC cinematic universe.

    James Gunn is the key

The idea of a crossover between Marvel and DC comics has long been a fan dream, but it has yet to come to fruition. In the comics, there have been several crossovers over the years, but they have generally been considered unsatisfactory due to creative differences and the desire to protect the two brands’ respective franchises.

However, with James Gunn’s success in both Marvel and DC properties, he could be the key to finally making a crossover happen. While it may be several years down the line, the fact that the idea has been discussed is a promising sign.

It’s important to note that there are no concrete plans for a Marvel-DC crossover movie at this time. James Gunn himself said that they have to establish what they’re doing in the DC universe first. Nevertheless, the possibility is exciting for fans who have long imagined what a superhero team-up between characters like Batman and Iron Man, or Superman and Captain America, would look like on the big screen.

In the meantime, fans can look forward to Gunn’s last Marvel project with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, set to hit theaters in May 2023. While the Guardians franchise may be ending, James Gunn has expressed interest in seeing the characters continue on in the MCU or possibly joining the Avengers.

As for a potential Marvel-DC crossover movie, it remains to be seen whether it will ever come to fruition. But with James Gunn at the helm of the DC cinematic universe, fans can at least be assured that the possibility is being discussed, and that’s a step in the right direction.

The history of Marvel and DC crossovers

While the idea of a crossover between Marvel and DC superheroes may excite fans, it’s worth taking a look at the history of such crossovers. Over the years, both comic book publishers have teamed up their respective characters for various crossover events, but the results have been mixed.

One of the biggest issues with these crossovers is that neither company wants to see their flagship heroes defeated in a fight. As a result, the battles tend to be tepid and unsatisfactory, with the stories often feeling forced and gimmicky.

However, there have been some enjoyable moments, such as the Amalgam Universe from the 1990s, which merged characters from both universes into unique, angsty, and entertaining new creations. But overall, the track record of Marvel and DC crossovers has been spotty at best.

With that said, if anyone could pull off a successful Marvel-DC crossover, it might be James Gunn. The director, who has had success with Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise and is now heading up DC’s film operations, has expressed interest in the idea, although he acknowledges that any discussions have been light and fun at this point.

Gunn’s success with Marvel has been largely due to his “kid playing with his action figures” ethos, which has made the Guardians movies a fun and exciting addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If he can bring that same sensibility to the DC universe, there’s a chance he could create a crossover that fans would actually enjoy.

Of course, any potential crossover is likely to be years away, as Gunn and his team at DC need to establish their own slate of films and characters first. But the fact that the idea is even being discussed is a sign of just how far superhero movies have come in the past few decades.

In the meantime, fans can look forward to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which will mark the end of Gunn’s time in the MCU. While not all of the characters are expected to make it out of the film alive, Gunn has said that he would be happy to see any survivors continue on in the Marvel universe, whether in solo films or team-up movies like The Avengers.

Overall, the prospect of a Marvel-DC crossover is exciting, but it’s important to remember that these things are easier said than done. However, with James Gunn at the helm of both universes, there’s at least a chance that we could see something truly special in the years to come.

  • Peacemaker Director James Gunn reveals a strange fact about Vigilante’s Mask

The Guardians of Galaxy fame James Gunn, who has also directed the recently released HBO Max TV series Peacemaker, has always been very interactive with the fans on social media. As the director of these famous Superhero movies that have such a huge fanbase across the globe, he considers it as his moral obligation to clear the doubts of curious fans – of course until it involves sharing any spoilers.

Well, we recently caught him doing something exactly similar when a fan asked him a question about a character of Peacemaker.

A curious fan asked Gunn on Twitter whether Vigilante’s mask is prescribed as whenever he opens his mask, his alter ego Adrian Chase has to wear glasses. Gunn was quick to reply. He quote tweeted the tweet and replied, “Yes it’s prescription”.

The character of Adrian Chase a.k.a Vigilante is played by Freddie Stromma in the HBO Max show. He has been shown as the sidekick of the main lead Peacemaker, played by WWE star John Cena, alongside Eagly the eagle.

Director James Gunn opined in a recent interview that he sees Vigilante as the oddest character of the series. He is a worse Peacemaker but has his own advantages.

James Gunn said, “Vigilante is a very different sort of ‘hero’. I think that I created Vigilante for the show because I thought, if you really are a guy that puts on a costume and goes around and murders people — just cold-blooded murders people who you think are bad guys — who are you really? Who is this person really?”

He added, “And yet, despite all of this, there’s this sort of dare I say sweetness about him, that it comes from Freddie [Stroma]’s performance and comes from the fact that he is so — in such a vulnerable way, adores Peacemaker, and has obviously since he’s been a child and Peacemaker was friends with his older brother. So I just wanted to create a different type of character who was not black and white, was actually — he’s a worse version of Peacemaker in many ways, but also not without things that we can like about him.”

The teaser for Peacemaker S1’s season finale was released yesterday and it has the fans on their toes. The much-awaited season finale of the Suicide Squad spinoff will release on 17th February on HBO Max.

  • DC Releases the first look of Hawkman and Doctor Fate in latest Black Adam teaser

DC released a combined teaser video for their upcoming DCEU movies that are set to release in 2022 and 2023 and it contained some major details about the much anticipated Black Adam movie.

The Dwayne Johnson starring Shazam (2019) spinoff which is set to release on 29th July will be the origin story of one of the Strongest characters in the DC Universe, Black Adam. He has often been portrayed as an Anti-hero in the DC Comics but even for most parts (including the Shazam origin story itself), Black Adam has been shown as a negative character overall.

However, Black Adam will also mark the debut of a few other DC characters like Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Atom Smasher, Adrianna Tomaz and Quintessa Swindell. The teaser video gave us a first look of Hawkman and Doctor Fate. For the rest, DC has briefly teased their potential costumes by showing quick shots of their chest emblems at the DC Fandome. The fans are now eagerly waiting for a glimpse of the other characters.

The casting of the aforementioned characters in Black Adam, is as follows:-

    • Hawkman – Aldis Hodge
    • Doctor Fate – Pierce Brosnan
    • Atom Smasher – Noah Centineo
    • Adrianna Tomaz – Sarah Shahi
    • Cyclone – Quintessa Swindell
Doctor Fate’s first look in teaser

The teaser video named ‘The World Needs Heroes’ also revealed some scenes of the upcoming DCEU movies like The Flash, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and The Batman, but the Black Adam teasers were hyped up the most.

It has been previously confirmed that all the characters apart from the main lead Black Adam will be appearing in the movie as members of the Justice Society of America.

Pierce Brosnan (who will play Doctor Fate in the movie) has talked about the casting of the Black Adam in a recent interview. In it, he talked about the perfect casting of Dwayne Johnson and also the other actors. “He is magnificent as Black Adam. We are the Justice Society and there’s four of us, so we became a strong quartet of actors.”

Black Adam is the arch nemesis of Shazam. Moving forward, the big plan of DC would definitely be to bring the two characters together in an upcoming movie for a big scale battle between them.

Marvel has pretty much created a monopoly in Superhero movies. Black Adam could finally provide DC with the golden opportunity of breaking that chain and making a blockbuster DCEU hit in the days to come. But much of that responsibility rests on the shoulders of Black Adam and Dwayne Johnson.

  • Matt Reeves’ Riddler has childhood Animosity with Bruce Wayne – Revealed

The prequel novel to Matt Reeves’ Batman (2022) was launched recently and it has made a number of astounding revelations.

Unlike any other Batman movie that the viewers have witnessed so far, Matt Reeves’ movie will portray the second year of Bruce Wayne being batman and skip the same old origin story.

It will portray a much complex character of the masked vigilante and actor Robert Pattinson has revealed beforehand that it is a ‘sad movie’ as his Batman is already broken by the crime of Gotham City. He is sort of addicted to doing what he does and he now enjoys inflicting pain upon the criminals and is himself a necessary evil of the city – Batman who doesn’t necessarily help !

Matt Reeves had announced beforehand that he wanted to stay aloof from DCEU’s extended universe and he didn’t want his version of the Batman to be destroyed by continuity.

However, that has not stopped the director from adding a bunch of iconic characters in the movie. The Batman (2022) features Cat Woman, the Riddler, Carmine Falone, Penguin and even the Joker according to rumors.

The tie-in novel that has been released, named “Before the Batman: An Original Movie Novel” takes a deep dive into Matt Reeves’ version of the Batman origin story. Interestingly, it also talks about the early life of the antagonists like Riddler and Penguin.

The Early Life of Riddler – Does he know the Batman?

The Riddler, played by Paul Dano in Batman, has been portrayed as a sadistic serial killer who has a political agenda and kills only the rich elite class of the society.

According to the Prequel, the Riddler was a orphan named Edward Nashton. He was Bruce Wayne’s schoolmate but was bullied in school. He was not as famous as Bruce Wayne in the school – in fact quite the opposite. He used to carry crosswords or puzzles with him and he was often called names like ‘Ed-weird’.

The orphanage that Riddler stayed in as a child was in the Wayne Manor. After Thomas Wayne shifted to the Wayne Tower with his family, he gave away the Wayne Manor to charity for them to continue the orphanage. However they left behind a family photo which kept on reminding Riddler of their charity’. He thus held a huge grudge for the Waynes. Riddler couldn’t stop thinking about Bruce Wayne as he was a ‘lucky rich kid’ in his words and had things that he could never attain.

Young Bruce Wayne from the Movie ‘Joker’

The trailer suggests that he knows Batman’s identity and it is thus very personal to him. He wants to torment Bruce Wayne before finishing him.

It is difficult to predict whether the movie will use even a tiny bit of the information that has been mentioned in the Prequel but given the 3 hr length of the movie, Riddler should get a decent screen-time to reveal his plans and motives.
